How to apply for SASSA SRD Grant



The President of South Africa introduced to the nation the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.

This grant was meant for all unemployed citizens of South Africa, citizens which don't get any financial support from the government (i.e UIF, Social grant, NSFAS and more), they will qualify for the R350 grant.

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is going to be distributed through SASSA's system.

You can apply for the Social Relief of Distress grant through these platforms.

Information that will be needed when applying for the SRD grant.

• Name and Surname
• Disability and Gender
• Residential Address
• Contact Details (i.e Phone Numbers)
• Identification Numbers or Refugee Permit Numbers

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will take some time to send you an outcome through your phone as an SMS, telling you whether you are approved or declined for the grant.

If you are approved for the grant your SMS will have a secure link requesting your banking details, when providing your banking details you should make sure that that bank information belongs to you, because SASSA will not pay to approve your banking details and you will collect yours at the Post Office.

When collecting your money at the post office SASSA will send you an SMS, telling you to go to the Post Office to collect the grant at a certain date and you must bring a copy of your ID.
